Do you want your child to have a strong and healthy smile this spring? If so, our dentist, Dr. Sean T. Ky, has the tips you need to help your child. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to keep your child’s teeth and gums in tip-top shape while they enjoy this warm weather and play outside. Those things are:

-Bring them into our office: At their appointment, our dental team will provide a professional dental cleaning and exam to prevent dental problems and to ensure the teeth, gums and underlying bone are in the best shape possible. If a problem is detected, treatment will be provided to restore your child’s oral health.

-Help them clean and care for their smile: This means you need to brush and floss your child’s teeth regularly. In fact, it’s best to brush twice a day and floss once a day. However, flossing is not necessary if the teeth are not tightly knit together (like if all of their baby teeth have yet to grow into place, leaving space around the teeth).

-Encourage the use of a mouthguard: A mouthguard can protect your child’s smile while they participate in high-contact sports and activities. In fact, it can help your child avoid knocked-out and broken teeth when they get hit in the face.
